Getting Involved

Our Urgent Appeal

Sesheke Secondary School is in a state of severe dilapidation. The school’s challenges are immense, and we need your help to restore our beloved institution to its former glory.

The Reality

The sobering reality is that while the student population has been increasing, the number of classroom buildings has been reducing. The infrastructure situation is dire on many levels:

Dilapidated Hostels:

Some hostels are no longer habitable, with grass and shrubs growing inside and roofs missing, exposing them to rain, wind, and sun.

Over-Enrolment:

In 2014, most classes had over 60 pupils, with one class reaching around 120 pupils. This over-enrolment puts a tremendous strain on school facilities resulting in further infrastructure deterioration.

Structural Damage:

It is hard to find a classroom without cracks; the damage is so extensive that the cracks even extend to the chalkboards. The floors are in disrepair, and most windows are missing glass, allowing sunlight, rain, and wind to enter freely. How can we nurture future leaders in such deteriorated conditions?

Kitchen in Disrepair:

The school kitchen is in terrible condition, posing a serious risk of disease outbreaks. The Kitchen flow is damaged, the walls have big cracks and the whole structure needs a fresh coat of paint.

A Need for Paint:

Most buildings require a fresh coat of paint to protect and preserve them. Some buildings look as if they are in a war zone due to extensive damage mainly from natural elements. Painting a building is much cheaper than building a new structure. By prioritizing repainting, we can extend the lifespan of existing buildings and create a more welcoming and inspiring environment for students and staff.

Our Mission

ASSA is committed to raising funds for the renovation of Sesheke Secondary School. We aim to identify critical areas needing assistance and create projects to raise money through donations from ASSA members and other supporters.

The Challenge

You don’t need to be a former Sesheke Secondary School student to join our noble cause. We welcome support from anyone passionate about education.
